Marco Rubio Missed Votes

Dear Fat Bastardo, The U.S. Senate is not a no-show job. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Truant) has quit on you. He’s quit on me. And he’s quit on 19,000,000+ people in Florida. Marco has been playing hooky. He is no longer showing up for his job, despite being paid nearly $15,000/month to do it. If he can’t be bothered to show up and vote, then he should quit, and we should all move on. Even before he announced his Presidential campaign, he had the worst attendance record in the Senate. Senator Feinstein, who is 82 years young, missed fewer votes than Rubio. Senator Kirk, who suffered a devastating stroke, missed fewer voters than Rubio. That’s just ridiculous. Seniors are suffering with no COLA increase, workers are struggling to survive on low wages, and economic inequality is threatening the existence of the American middle class, but Marco Rubio can’t even be bothered to show up to work for his high-priced job. Bernie Sanders, who is also running to be our next President, serves in the Senate, and Bernie isn’t missing as many votes. Why won't Marco Rubio just show up, and do the job that we hired him to do? Think about your job — how long do you think you’d keep it, if you failed to show up one-third of the time? You would get fired, in a New York minute. Will we be a nation where the wealthy pay their fair share, or a nation where Warren Buffett’s secretary pays taxes at a higher rate than he does? Will we be a nation where seniors live in dignity, or a nation where they live in poverty? Will we be a nation of perpetual war, or a nation at peace? Marco Rubio, my Senator, doesn’t care. The Senate bores him. He can’t be bothered to show up and vote. Marco Rubio has given up on doing his job, because he thinks he’s found a better one: United States President. It’s disgusting to see him miss so many votes (a third!), and still cash that paycheck of almost $15,000/month in taxpayer dollars. Don’t think this is some Alan Grayson Partisan Crusade™ to attack some Republican whom I don’t like. Showing up for work is not a partisan issue. The Sun Sentinel, which endorsed both Mitt Romney and Marco Rubio in the past, has joined my call in asking Rubio to resign. He says he hates the Senate, and he isn’t showing up for the job.
