I think it is safe to say that the party of Reagan is now the party of Trump. Trump didn't create this degeneracy. He merely cultivated it. The depravity that is the massive far right has always been here. They found their Hitler. That was evident when the Republican voters rejected you, Pataki, Jeb Bush and Kasich who were not only more qualified than Trump but sane and far more more moral. Heck, an alley cat is more moral than Trump.
I was not surprised that they went for liar Ted and Don the Con over the sane, moral and honest candidates. I've been watching these deplorable fact hating pieces of shit for many years. The more lies Trum told and the more vulgar he became the higher his poll numbers went. Even Hitler's supporters would have rejected that. What does that say about the GOP base?
John's passing, marks the end of an era and ushers in the full blown post truth era, post sanity era, post civility era and post patriotic era of the Republican party.
I campaigned for Obama in 2008 and I saw Senator McCain as an opponent while even back then many Republican voters saw Obama as the enemy. They continued to spread the Muslim and birther the lies as they trashed his wife, and daughters in the most vile and unChristian ways. Now they are trashing sane conservatives calling them RINOs. It is reflexive with them. Ignorance is power to them. Truth is not truth to them.
These are your people senator. Your dogs are off their leashes. If you think the average Republican voter would be impressed by the honor, patriotism and heroism on people like Senator McCain, you need to think again. It was South Carolina voters who fell for Bush's robo calls in 2000 that sunk the McCain campaign. Where would we be today had McCain won the presidency in 2000? There probably would be no Iraq war and since John was for restoring Glass Stegal there probably would not have been the huge recession caused by the greedy banksters, unfunded wars and the borrow and spend so popular among today's Reublicans.
Senator Graham, you are set financially. You could walk away and have a very cushy and fulfilling life. Maybe, just maybe you could make huge difference. When you did the honorable thing by calling out Trump on his vulgarity, racisim, dishonesty and misogyny your base turned on you and they turned on our national treasure John McCain because Trump said he wasn't a hero. They know John's heroism ranks up there and may exceed the heroism of Audie Murphy, JFK, John Kerry, and Sergeant Alvin York.
As a patriot who votes Democrat, I want to see Trump make it to 2020 so that he continues to damage the GOP. The GOP earned the hate with their dishonesty, hypocrisy, and general depravity. I get the fact that Republican candidates have to lie due to their ignorance, dishonesty and depravity of the base.
Talk is cheap Lindsey. The time has come for you and other sane Republicans to dress down the base with a great big giant fact filled enema. It may save the GOP and it may save the US of A.
I tell my kids that the US is not the only country in the world in which to live. When 45% of Americans support this vulgar traitor and 90% of the Republican base does as well it may be time to learn the words to Oh Canada.
I hope you consider my words and honor Senator McCain with some action. If I were you and I were to run again for the senate I would tell the voters this, "If you support Trump, I don't want your vote and I will not represent you because I consider Trump supporter to be traitors and enemies of democracy, the constitution and the rule of law." Do you know how popular that would make you? You would not be known as the flip flopping mealy mouthed senator from South Carolina. You'd be known as John McCain's legacy. Go for it!
