1. You don't mesh. You and your doctor don't need to see eye to eye on everything, but it's helpful if you work well together. If you want a partnership, for example, a doctor who spouts commands is not the best fit. 9. He's rude or condescending. Time to part ways. Same goes if he trivializes your concerns as though they're not valid. "When my sister finished asking her question, the doctor was gone," Clancy recalls. "She called me afterward and I told her, 'You have to find someone else. You'll regret it if you don't.' "

During the starvation they burn all the glycogen (the storage form of glucose) in their liver and soon most of their life sustaining calories come from ketones in stored body fat. Body cells with  function best on glucose but can survive on ketones. Brain and nerve cells require glucose. Ketogenic diets like Atkins and South Beach don't work and they are dangerous. I am telling you this to let you know that most MD are clueless when it come to weight loss so don't listen to them.

The best way to lose weight is to keep your caloric intake at your basal metabolic rate. To find your approximate BMR multiply your weight X 10. That will get you in the ballpark.

The safe way to lose weight and not damage your body and brain is to lose no more than 1 pound per 100 pounds of body weight per week. For example; If you weigh 300 pounds lose no more than 3 pounds per week.

A farmer would not feed his livestock the slop most American eat because it is just so unhealthy.

The 15% of people who lose weight and keep in off do it for altruistic reasons. People are more motivated when the do it for a loved one.

The more often you eat the less likely you will feel hungry.

Create 6 meals per day that total your BMR. You will be eating ever couple of hours so you won't have time to feel hungry. If you do feel some hunger pangs drink water or suck it.

These meals have to be healthy and wholesome. They need to include .5 grams of protein per pound of your body weight. Protein is the only safe appetite suppressant. 65% of the calories need to come from plant based carbohydrates and the remaining can from healthy fats; learn what they are.

You probably don't know that Protein has 4 calories per gram. Carbs have 4 calories per gram, Alcohol has 6 calories per gram. Fat has 9 calories per gram.  If you didn't know this perhaps you are not serious enough about your health and your personal and social responsibilities???? Your doctor never took the time to tell you this because he doesn't know nor does he care to know and keeping you fat means more money for him. I know that sounds harsh but its most often the case.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, sexism and misogyny in the Missoula county attorney's office led to prosecutors humiliating victims and dropping rape cases.

At one point, for example, when one distraught mother asked why her 5-year-old daughter's rapist had only been given two years of community service, a county attorney told her "boys will be boys." Another read religious passages aloud to a rape survivor.

Furthermore, the investigators said, prosecutors had failed to pursue the vast majority of cases where mentally or physically disabled women claimed they'd been assaulted, "even in cases where there was evidence such as a confession or incriminating statements by the perpetrator."

This sickening failure of the justice system is a disgusting abuse of power. These victims had nowhere else to turn, and the people they trusted to pursue justice on their behalf let them down.

(CNN) -- An 84-year-old nun was sentenced to 35 months in prison Tuesday for breaking into a nuclear facility, her lawyer said.

In May, a federal jury in Knoxville, Tennessee, found Sister Megan Rice; Greg Boertje-Obed, 57; and Michael Walli, 63, guilty of destroying U.S. government property and causing more than $1,000 in damage to federal property.

It was not immediately clear what the sentences were for the two other peace activists.

The incident began before dawn on July 28, 2012, when the three cut through a chain-link fence surrounding the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

They then walked nearly a mile, cutting through three more fences and breaching what was supposed to be the most tightly secured uranium processing and storage facility in the country.

It was not until hours later that a guard finally confronted the activists who, by then, had hoisted banners, spray-painted messages and splattered human blood on a building that houses highly enriched uranium.

In response to the incident, Congress has held a series of hearings and issued security recommendations to the Department of Energy and its National Nuclear Security Administration, which runs Y-12 and seven other nuclear weapons sites.

In March, Deputy Energy Secretary Daniel Poneman testified before the House Energy and Commerce Committee that the Department of Energy had taken "several major actions ... to improve security" since the breach, including management changes and independent security reviews.

Mormon Church Harbouring Aiding and Abetting Another Corporate Criminal

First off, Mormons are not even false Christians because they are are NOT Christians false of otherwise. It turns out after Gary Newsome CEO of HMA got caught committing massive medical fraud the Mormon Church gave him a job in Uruguay as president of a mission.

Health Management Associates, including one contending former CEO Gary Newsome pushed unnecessary admissions for false billings.

Newsome, who resigned as chief executive officer July 31, directed “HMA’s corporate practice of pressuring emergency department physicians and hospital administrators to raise inpatient admissions rates, regardless of medical necessity,” the federal agency said in a statement.

The lawsuit naming Newsome said he exerted significant pressure on doctors in emergency rooms to admit patients who instead could have been put under observation, treated as outpatients or discharged. They were admitted to obtain inflated or false medical claims paid by the federal government, the agency said.

Besides setting targeted admission rates in emergency rooms at all HMA hospitals, directors of emergency rooms and physicians found their employment contingent on increasing admissions, Justice Department officials said.

Hospital executives were threatened with firing if they didn’t coerce physicians to admit more patients, according to one of the lawsuits. Another suit says patients were improperly admitted for scheduled surgical procedures when they should have been treated as outpatients, the agency said.

HMA owns 71 hospitals in 15 states, including two Physicians Regional Healthcare System campuses in Collier County.

The whistle-blower complaints contend HMA paid kickbacks to other physician groups to induce referrals, which included improper direct payments and free office space to Primary Care Associates, a practice in Port Charlotte, the agency said.

“This intervention decision marks the culmination of a lengthy and comprehensive investigation into a variety of serious fraud allegations against one of our district’s largest health-care providers,” A. Lee Bentley III, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida, said Monday in a statement.

Newsome’s resignation came while the Justice Department and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission were conducting probes of HMA’s billing practices for at least two years.

Newsome became CEO in 2008. He resigning after he said he was tapped by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to serve as president of its Uruguay-Montevideo Mission in South America.

In a May 28 interview with the Naples Daily News, Newsome said he was proud of his accomplishments with HMA and had transformed the company “into a vibrant, innovative company that is well-positioned and on a clear path to great success.”

When asked Monday about the allegations against Newsome, HMA spokeswoman MaryAnn Hodge said in a statement: “While our legal team addresses these matters and continues to cooperate with the Department of Justice’s ongoing investigation, HMA associates and physicians who practice at our facilities are focused on providing the highest quality patient care in all our hospitals.”

HMA is to be acquired by Tennessee-based Community Health Systems Inc. after 98 percent of votes cast by shareholders last week approved the $7.6 billion sale. That includes Community Health assuming $3.7 billion of HMA’s debt.

The Federal Trade Commission still has to approve the acquisition, which would make Community Health the largest hospital system in the U.S. based on the number of hospitals. Community Health would operate 206 hospitals with 31,000-plus beds.

Health-care analyst Sheryl Skolnick, with CRT Capital Group LLC, said the last four suits unsealed Monday were the most incriminating.

Whistle-blower suits like these are sealed procedurally until the government investigates the allegations, then unsealed.

“They kept the best for last,” she said. “This is a unique case because it does name Gary Newsome as an individual. In order for the DOJ to intervene, obviously they have to feel there is enough ‘there’ to substantiate their taking on Gary as a defendant.”

Though the last four suits are different from the first four, together they paint the same story of wrongdoing, Skolnick said.

Until now, the suits might have suggested a bad apple here or there at HMA’s hospitals, she said.

“It’s the same thing all over the place,” Skolnick said.

After Newsome joined HMA at the end of 2008, the struggling company turned around quickly, growing admissions, which concerned Skolnick, a vocal HMA critic.

“The record will show patient volumes changed very quickly,” she said.

HMA — or its new owners — might be forced to buy back the interest in its hospitals that were sold to physicians, as it was in the case of HealthSouth Corp. and its accounting scandal years ago, Skolnick said.

“So the doctors would have to get money back, not their money back, but money back,” she said. “And it’s not clear how much.”

It’s not a complicated case, so it shouldn’t be difficult to explain to a jury, she said.

“It’s a simple story,” Skolnick said. “This is not some kind of arcane financial statement fraud.”

A Rebuttal by CG Brady

Bigger Fatter Politics is the most visited fat acceptance site of all time but when I Fat Bastardo posted a Fat Tax cyber debate between CG Brady and me Fat Bastardo I suspect that the servers at Google melted. One of our long time contributors to Bigger Fatter Politics Dr Gerald "Teddy" Bear took great umbrage at the comments made by CG Brady. Knowing that a fat tax or obesity is not only a hot button issue but a socially important issue, I Fat Bastardo will continue a series of discussion on this subject. The following is a rebuttal from CG Brady.

A Rebuttal to Fat Bastardo's Assertions that Obesity and Gluttony is An Economic Stimulus

Fat Bastardo asserts that gluttony is good for the economy because it creates so much more bussiness and increases sales of nearly every resource. That would be true if we were exporting these resources to other obese country but the greatest consumption by American  fatlings is food and medical care. The US medical system is a huge drain on our economy and the biggest perpetrator of fraud of all other American industries combined. In fact Blue Cross Blue Shield reports that 33% of every dollar spent on healthcare in the US goes to cover waste and fraud.

FOOD! Most of the food consumed in the US is consumed by fat people. Do the math Bastardo. 75% of Americans are fat or obese. The average fatling consumes twice as much as the average healthy sized person. Because of this over consumption America is importing more and more food. Trade deficits wreck economies.

Low wages! The food industry in the US is huge but they pay their workers poorly. They millions of low paying food jobs hurts the economy.

Absenteeism! Fat people get sick more often and have more sick days. Lower production hurts the US economy.

Presenteeism! Fat people while at work are simply less productive.

Sloth and Gluttony are Choices

Everything a fatling crams into his or her pie hole is a CHOICE. Sure there are a lot of greedy food companies working hand in hand with the medical and drug industry but is all boils down to one undeniable fact. What you put in your shopping cart, order at a restaurant and eventually shove into your pie hole is a choice. When it comes to feeding themselves fat people are just plain irresponsible.

I see you fatlings in your power scooters rooting around Walmart and when your shopping for your pig food is over you waddle to your car. I see you with a caravan of shopping carts being pushed by your chubby and dirty kids.

When fatlings blame their sloth and gluttony on anything and everything but themselves it certainly calls in to questions their character. Sloth greed and gluttony is what ended the Roman Empire and the US will meet the same tragic fate.

What anti obesity advocates say is unpopular because the truth hurts. We get accused of being Nazis, fat haters, racists, right wingers, Republicans, tea baggers, evil ect ect ect... but the truth is we are telling the truth and offering opinions based on fact. The very types of people that we get accused of being i.e. Nazis, fat haters, racists, right wingers, Republicans, tea baggers, ect are almost always fat!

It's said but true, many fat people are big babies.

They eat themselves into infirmities and then cry about it and blame everything and everyone.

They eat themselves into ugliness and then go out and hate attractive people.

They eat themselves into immobility and with maniacal hate they launch vitriolic rants against people who are athletic and fit.

Healthcare Costs

• Obesity-related medical treatment costs between $147 and $210 billion a year, or nearly 10 percent of all annual medical spending (based on 2006 data). The majority of the spending is generated from treating obesity-related diseases such as diabetes.¹ Of the $147 billion, Medicare and Medicaid are responsible for $61.8 billion. Medicare and Medicaid spending would be 8.5 percent and 11.8 percent lower, respectively, in the absence of obesity.² Obese people spend 42 percent more on healthcare costs than healthyweight people.³
• Childhood obesity alone is responsible for $14.1 billion in direct costs.⁴
• Annually, the average total health expenses for a child treated for obesity under Medicaid is $6,730, while the average health cost for all children covered by Medicaid is $2,446. The average total health expenses for a child treated for obesity under private insurance is $3,743, while the average health cost for all children covered by private insurance is $1,108.⁵
• Hospitalizations of children and youths with a diagnosis of obesity nearly doubled between 1999 and 2005, while total costs for children and youths with obesity-related hospitalizations increased from $125.9 million in 2001 to $237.6 million in 2005, measured in 2005 dollars.⁶
• In California alone, the economic costs of overweight, obesity and physical inactivity are estimated to cost $41 billion a year.⁷

Decreased Worker Productivity and Increased Absenteeism

• Obesity-related job absenteeism costs $4.3 billion annually.⁸
• Obesity is associated with lower productivity while at work (presenteeism), which costs employers $506 per obese worker per year.⁹
• As a person's BMI increases, so do the number of sick days, medical claims and healthcare costs associated with that person.¹⁰

Higher Workers' Compensation Claims

• A number of studies have shown obese workers have higher workers' compensation claims.^{11,12,13,14,15,16}
• Obese employees had $51,091 in medical claims costs per 100 full-time employees, costs for medical claims for healthy-weight workers was $7,503. And obese workers had $59,178 in indemnity claims costs per 100 full-time employees; healthy-weight indemnity claims cost $5,396.¹⁷

Health and Emergency Safety Costs

• Emergency responders and healthcare providers face unique challenges in transporting and treating the heaviest patients. According to one study, the number of severely obese (BMI ≥ 40) patients quadrupled between 1986 and 2000 from one in 200 to one in 50. The number of super-obese (BMI ≥ 50) patients grew by a factor of five, from one in 2,000 to one in 400.¹⁸
• A typical ambulance outfitted with equipment and two emergency medical technicians (EMTs) that can transport a 400-pound patient costs $70,000. A specially outfitted bariatric ambulance that can transport patients weighing up to 1,000 pounds costs $110,000.¹⁹
• A standard hospital bed can hold 500 pounds and costs $1,000. A bariatric hospital bed that can hold up to 1,000 pounds costs $4,000.²⁰

Where Is This Money Going and to Whom?

This one is a no brainer. The only people reaping rewards from the gluttony bloom and the fat bonanza are the greedy corporations. Is that good for the US economy? NO!
