UPS fires 250 employees for staging a 90-minute protest to defend co-worker

UPS is firing 250 Queens, N.Y., drivers for walking off the job during a 90-minute protest in February. 

The company dismissed 20 of the workers after their shifts Monday and issued notices of termination to another 230 employees, notifying them that they will be fired once the company has trained their replacements, UPS spokesman Steve Gaut told Business Insider.

The workers were protesting the dismissal of longtime employee and union activist Jairo Reyes, who was fired over an hours dispute, according to Gaut. The New York Daily News first reported on the firings.

Local politicians are threatening to cancel city contracts that give UPS millions of dollars in breaks on parking fines.

"They took a grievance with one employee and turned it into notices of termination with 250 workers," New York City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer told The Queens Courier. "That’s outrageous. These are good, hardworking employees who have a contract for UPS. To try and break this contract, break this union, is something that is unacceptable and we can’t tolerate."

The bottom line is this; the good old US Postal Service will cost you far far less than Fed Ex or UPS. When it comes to price and quality the US Postal Service is the clear winner!

When you ship something use the US postal service and when given a choice when ordering something online and need it shipped opt for the US postal service.

Don't do business with any company who pays its employees any amount below the poverty level.

There is another reason for not using UPS. UPS hires thieves and junkies who steal. Postal service employees are drug tested and if they do steal it is a federal offense and they GO TO JAIL!

Professional American liar, traitor, nut job and cry baby Glenn Beck is being sued for telling lies about Abdulrahman Alharbi a Saudi student who was injured at the Boston Marathon bombing. Abdulrahman Alharbi was thoroughly investigated by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies and he was cleared of any wrong doing. Perhaps now, this unmanly professional liar Glenn Beck will be brought to justice.

Saudi Man Investigated After Marathon Bombings Sues Glenn Beck for Defamation, Slander

BOSTON (AP) — A Saudi Arabian man injured in the Boston Marathon bombings has filed a defamation lawsuit against Glenn Beck, accusing the conservative commentator of saying on the air that the plaintiff was "the money man" behind the attack.

In the federal lawsuit filed Friday in Boston, Abdulrahman Alharbi says his reputation was "substantially and severely damaged" as a result of Beck's statements tying him to the bombings.

The 20-year-old Alharbi, who attends college in the Boston area, says in his lawsuit that he was injured in the bombings and was questioned by authorities who searched his apartment before determining he had no connection to the attack.

His lawsuit seeks a jury trial and unspecified damages.

Beck's agent didn't immediately respond to a phone call Tuesday seeking comment on the lawsuit.

I just watched you on CNN’s State of the Union this morning. I want you to know that you just lied. I am a Wyoming citizen, one of those that you said doesn't want the Affordable Care Act, and you lied. I want it. Very much so. My cousin, also a Wyoming citizen, is now covered under his parent’s plan as a student at UW because the ACA extended the age requirement for children to 26. My mother, father, aunts, grandparents and cousins are all insured because they cannot be disregarded because of a pre-existing condition.

You said that Medicaid patients aren't being seen because doctors don’t get reimbursed. Also a lie, they do get reimbursed. Shame on you for spreading that rumor. I am a very ill woman whose blue-collar husband works his butt off and, still, the only insurance option I have is Medicaid. The doctors here in Wyoming believe your lies. They believe that they won’t get paid and that they shouldn't have to accept me. My husband has to miss full days of work to make sure I can see the doctors I need to stay alive, to avoid blindness and to maintain a semblance of quality of life.

You lied. You said that people travel over state lines for care because of the Affordable Care Act. That is so very untrue sir. My family travels over state lines because you lie to our doctors and make them feel just in their prejudice against my poverty. I am forced to go to Colorado because there, the doctors know that Medicaid is profitable for them, and they treat me with Wyoming’s Medicaid dollars just fine. They get paid, they have fine offices with nice decor, well vacationed doctors and nurses with nice homes.

You should know that this Wyoming citizen, at least, sits in tears wondering what your Hippocratic oath meant to you this morning. Your lies, your policies and your politics literally make me sick – and I think that you know that this is the result for poor people in your state. What kind of doctor are you? What kind of Representative are you? I’ll tell you what kind – a disgraceful lying kind. You must profit greatly from your behavior, I have no idea how else you might justify it.
